As a wedding photographer, I’m lucky enough to be part of many special days, but every so often, a wedding comes along that stands out. Hannah and James’ wedding at Middleton Lodge Fig House in September was one of those days. It was full of real, raw emotions—laughter, tears, and so much happiness—and I’m grateful I got to capture all of it.

Middleton Lodge Fig House: A Perfect Setting

Middleton Lodge Fig House is one of those venues that’s just perfect for a summer wedding. It has that mix of elegance and relaxed charm that makes you feel right at home. Set in the countryside with its beautiful gardens and glassy, light-filled Fig House, the venue was a beautiful backdrop for Hannah and James’ day. The late-summer sunlight gave everything a golden glow, creating the perfect atmosphere for photos.

Hannah’s Stunning Silk Dress

Hannah looked absolutely breathtaking in her dress. Supplied by And For Love, her silk gown with long sleeves was classic yet modern, with a lovely cut-out at the back that added a bit of edge. The real showstopper, though, was her long, flowing veil. It was elegant and romantic, catching the breeze as she made her way down the aisle. In the evening, she swapped her veil for a fun hair bow, which gave her a playful, fresh look for the reception. It’s those little touches that make a wedding feel so personal.

James and His Groomsmen: Sharp and Stylish

James and his groomsmen looked incredibly sharp in their black tuxedos. James was cool, calm, and collected, though you could see the excitement in his eyes as he waited for Hannah to walk down the aisle. The guys had a great energy together, sharing laughs and lighthearted moments before the ceremony. As a photographer, I love capturing the quiet, meaningful moments between the couple, like the way James looked at Hannah during the ceremony or the little smiles they shared—those are the moments I cherish most.

Flash Photography: Bringing the Night to Life

When the sun set and the night took over, the atmosphere at Middleton Lodge shifted into something even more magical. The venue, lit with fairy lights and candles, felt warm and intimate. As a photographer, I love using flash when it’s dark. It can really bring out the mood of the night, highlighting the couple, the venue, and all the energy that fills the air.

Using flash, I could capture the fun of the dance floor, the smiles on everyone’s faces, and the cozy vibe of the evening. The soft lights, the energy of the guests, and the beautiful details of the venue all came together to create those perfect, dramatic shots that really show off the vibe of the day. Flash photography adds a special touch, creating beautiful, lively images when the natural light fades away.

Capturing the Real Joy of the Day

At the end of the day, what I love most about being a wedding photographer is capturing the real emotions—the laughter, the joy, the tears. Every wedding is different, but Hannah and James’ day was filled with so much love, warmth, and genuine happiness. From the golden light of the afternoon to the lively energy of the evening, every moment felt like it needed to be captured.

I feel so lucky to have been there to document their beautiful day. Thank you, Hannah and James, for letting me be part of such an amazing celebration. Your wedding was full of love, laughter, and joy—and I’m so honored I could capture it all for you to remember forever.
